Code of Conduct

Beasts Armoured Combat Inc. Club Code of Conduct Version 1.1 – April 2025

1. Purpose

This Code sets clear, common‑sense standards for every Beasts Member — whether sparring at training, coaching newcomers, competing at an AMCF‑sanctioned tournament, or representing the club in public.

2. Scope & Membership Eligibility

2.1 Where it applies

  • Beasts‑run activities: training, workshops, fund‑raisers, social events

  • Beasts Members’ conduct at AMCF‑sanctioned tournaments and demonstrations

  • Public representation: media interviews, social‑media posts, sponsor engagements

2.2 Who it covers

  • Every current Beasts Member, coach, committee member and appointed volunteer.

​

2.3 Age limit – 18+ only

  • Club membership is open only to individuals aged 18 years or older on the date of application or renewal.

  • No person under 18 may handle weapons or armour, attend sparring, or be promoted as a Beasts combatant.

  • Club insurance and AMCF cover do not extend to any junior training sessions run independently of Beasts Armoured Combat Inc.

3. Guiding Principles

  • Safety first

    • We protect ourselves, teammates and spectators; we speak up about hazards.

  • Respect & inclusion

    • No sexism, racism, homophobia, ableism or bullying — online or offline.

  • Integrity

    • We follow the rules, accept marshal decisions and never sandbag or fix matches.

  • Stewardship

    • Beasts Members safeguard club gear, venues and funds with the same care and respect they show teammates — using resources only for authorised purposes, preventing loss or damage, and accounting for every dollar entrusted to them.

  • Accountability

    • We own our actions and accept fair feedback or sanctions when needed.

4. Standards of Behaviour

1. Legal compliance – Follow Australian law (WHS, Anti‑Discrimination, privacy).

2. Alcohol & drugs – No alcohol or illicit drugs while training, competing or on armour duty.

3. Language & conduct – Friendly banter only; slurs, harassment or intimidation trigger sanctions.

4. Media & social media – Promote the sport positively; obtain consent before posting violent or confidential footage.

5. Weapons & Equipment Handling

  • Members‑only rule – Only current Beasts Members (and AMCF members) may handle weapons, armour or training devices.

  • No hand‑offs to non‑members – Never give or loan a weapon, shield or training device to a non‑member.

  • Checks & maintenance – Fighters present gear for safety inspection; damaged kit is pulled immediately.

  • Transport & storage – Weapons are sheathed/secured and stored out of public reach when not in use.

6. Duty of Care at Training

  • Coach‑to‑participant ratio. A risk assessment sets the safe maximum. As a guide:

    • Skills‑development or mixed‑ability sessions

      • 1 : 12 recommended.

    • Advanced sessions with qualified assistant coaches and an on‑site first‑aider

      • May extend up to 1 : 25.

  • The head coach may cap numbers at any time.

  • A qualified first‑aid officer (or higher) must be present at every session.

  • New athletes receive a safety brief and must demonstrate control before sparring.

7. Reporting & Whistle‑Blowing

  • Report concerns to a committee member, the Safety Officer, or battle@beasts.org.au.

  • Good‑faith reporters are protected from retaliation.

8. Breaches & Sanctions

The following are outlines of Breach levels, examples of a breach, and an example of appropriate action taken to rectify said breach.

  • Low

    • First minor language slip

      • → Verbal reminder / coaching

  • Moderate

    • Ignoring gear‑check protocol, purposefully or willfully ignoring 

      • → Written warning / temporary suspension

  • Serious

    • Handing a weapon to a non‑member;

    • Allowing or inviting a minor to train under Beasts or AMCF branding;

    • Discriminatory abuse;

    • Training or competing while impaired

      • → Session expulsion, membership suspension, referral to AMCF or police

Beasts Members have 48 hours to appeal any sanction to the Club Disciplinary Panel.

9. Review & Amendment

Reviewed annually by the Committee or sooner if AMCF policies, legislation or club risk profile changes.

10. Acknowledgement

I confirm I am 18 years of age or older, have read and understood the Beasts Armoured Combat Code of Conduct, and agree to comply with it at all club activities and AMCF‑sanctioned events.

Digital acknowledgement is captured when a Beasts Member joins and at each annual renewal, alongside the club’s Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Liability Waiver.
